Since 1 July 2026, Australian texts sent with an unregistered branded sender name (an alphanumeric sender ID) show as "Unverified" and are grouped together, so most people treat them as scams. Branded sender IDs need to be registered.
Separate email and SMS consent with records, business identification in every message, and unsubscribes that work and are actioned within 5 working days. This is general practice, not legal advice.
