GoHighLevel has a native Shopify integration. It brings your Shopify customers, orders, products and payments into a GoHighLevel sub-account, so you can text and email buyers, recover abandoned checkouts and ask for reviews from the same place you handle leads and conversations. Here's how to connect it, what syncs, which workflow triggers to use in 2026, and the automations worth building first.
1. Why connect Shopify to GoHighLevel?
Shopify is very good at running a store. Its built-in marketing covers email and basic flows, and apps like Klaviyo add more. GoHighLevel is useful when you also want two-way texting, WhatsApp, a shared inbox, phone calls, booking, reviews and sales pipelines next to your store data. It suits stores that sell high-value or considered products, stores that also take bookings or consultations, and agencies that manage several client stores.
If you only need email flows for a simple store, Shopify Email or Klaviyo may be enough. GoHighLevel earns its place when conversations, not just campaigns, drive sales.
2. How to connect Shopify
- Open the GoHighLevel sub-account for the store.
- Go to Settings > Integrations > Shopify and click Connect.
- Enter your store name or
.myshopify.comaddress. - Review the permissions on Shopify's Install app screen and approve them.
- Choose what to import and which sync settings to turn on (next section).
The connection uses OAuth and works on the Shopify Basic plan. If your store was connected earlier through a legacy custom app, HighLevel says you need to reconnect through OAuth to get customer and order sync. Don't disconnect the old connection until you're ready to reconnect straight away.
3. What syncs
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| One-time import | Brings in existing contacts, orders, transactions, products and collections |
| Contact sync | Keeps Shopify customers up to date as contacts, with their Shopify tags |
| Order and transaction sync | Adds each new order as a transaction in the sub-account |
| Product and collection sync | Keeps your catalogue in GoHighLevel |
| Order received and payment received triggers | Let new orders and payments start workflows |
Connected contacts get fields such as Shopify customer ID, lifetime value, order count, first and last order date and last order value, which you can use in segments and workflow conditions. Some details to know:
- Only completed, paid orders update these fields. Draft orders don't.
- A refund lowers lifetime value but doesn't reduce the order count.
- Lifetime value counts Shopify purchases only.
- Taxes aren't mapped on products.
- Email and SMS consent fields are marked "coming soon", so consent doesn't sync yet. More on that below.
4. Workflow triggers to use in 2026
| Trigger | Use it for | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Abandoned Checkout | Checkout recovery | Current. Use this for new builds |
| Shopify Order Placed | Thank-you, cross-sell and onboarding messages | Current |
| Order Fulfilled | Delivery follow-up and review requests | Current |
| Product Review Submitted | Thanking reviewers or alerting you to bad reviews | Current |
| Shopify Abandoned Cart | Old abandoned cart builds | Deprecating soon |
| Shopify Order Fulfilled | Old fulfilment builds | Deprecating soon |
If your account already has workflows on the two deprecating triggers, rebuild them on Abandoned Checkout and Order Fulfilled now rather than waiting for them to stop firing. Trigger names do change, so check the dropdown in your own account.
5. Automations worth building first
- Abandoned checkout recovery. Wait about an hour, check the order hasn't been completed, then send a reminder with the checkout link. Follow up about a day later. Keep any discount for the last message, or leave it out so customers don't learn to abandon on purpose.
- Post-purchase follow-up. A thank-you after Shopify Order Placed, and care or setup tips for products that need them.
- Review requests a few days after Order Fulfilled, once the customer has the product. See review automation.
- Repeat purchase reminders for consumables, timed from the last order date.
- VIP and win-back segments using lifetime value and order count, such as a personal message to top customers or an offer to people who haven't ordered in six months.
- Conversations in one inbox, so replies by text, email, WhatsApp and social messages land in the same place. See the WhatsApp integration.
6. Consent: the part most stores get wrong
Because Shopify's marketing consent doesn't sync to GoHighLevel yet, a synced customer is not automatically someone you can text. Abandoned checkout and promotional messages are marketing in most countries:
- US: marketing texts need prior express written consent, and business texting needs A2P 10DLC registration. See what is 10DLC.
- UK and EU: marketing emails and texts generally need consent under PECR and GDPR. See GDPR for UK and EU businesses.
- Australia: the Spam Act requires consent, sender identification and an unsubscribe. See the Spam Act and SMS.
Capture consent in Shopify checkout, record it in GoHighLevel with a tag or custom field, and add an if/else step that checks it before every marketing message. Order confirmations and delivery updates are transactional and are treated differently.
7. When the native integration isn't enough
The native connection covers most stores. For data it doesn't sync, such as specific line items in custom fields, subscription app events or a second store into one sub-account, you can use Shopify webhooks, Zapier, Make or n8n, or a small custom integration through the HighLevel API. See n8n and Zapier with GoHighLevel and the GoHighLevel API guide.
8. Common problems
- Customers or orders not syncing: check the sync toggles, then reconnect through OAuth if the store used a legacy custom app.
- Abandoned checkout workflow not firing: make sure it uses the current Abandoned Checkout trigger, not Shopify Abandoned Cart, and that the workflow is published.
- Duplicate contacts: check that contacts match on email or phone, and review your duplicate contact settings.
- Texts not delivered: usually registration or carrier filtering. See SMS not sending.

Frequently asked questions
Does GoHighLevel integrate with Shopify?
Yes. GoHighLevel has a native Shopify integration under Settings > Integrations > Shopify. It syncs contacts, orders, transactions, products and collections, and lets Shopify events start workflows.
Which trigger should I use for Shopify abandoned carts in GoHighLevel?
Use the Abandoned Checkout trigger. The older Shopify Abandoned Cart trigger is marked as deprecating, so existing workflows built on it should be moved over.
Can I text Shopify customers from GoHighLevel?
Only with the right consent. Shopify's email and SMS consent doesn't sync to GoHighLevel yet, so record consent separately and check it before sending marketing messages. Order and delivery updates are transactional and are treated differently.
